O lote situa-se em plena paisagem de montado, estando as melhores vistas a norte, com um lago e o horizonte pontuado por sobreiros.

A casa está organizada num volume compacto de dois pisos, complementado por três pátios totalmente diferentes nas suas dimensões e características. Um primeiro grande pátio, fechado, intimista, situa-se no lado sul, contendo um enorme sobreiro existente. Junto ao quarto-das-máquinas há um outro pátio mais pequeno, de serviço. O terceiro pátio, a norte, funciona como elemento mediador e fundamental na relação entre a casa e o lado norte – é um espaço esguio com um enorme rasgo horizontal que enquadra a paisagem – tem um ambiente de “espaço interior ao ar livre”. A luz é suave, por reflexão na parede externa que recebe sol directo. Este pátio vertical comunica com uma escadaria que dá para um terraço aberto, o último elemento da cadência de espaços, pátios e ambientes que vão de mais introspectivos e privados a mais abertos e exteriores.

Three Courtyards House. The plot  is located in the middle of a “montado” landscape, being the best views to the north with a lake and the skyline punctuated by cork oak trees.

The house is organized in a compact volume of two floors, complemented by three courtyards all different in size and features. A first large courtyard, enclosed, intimate, situates on the south side, embracing a big existing cork oak. Next to the back entrance there is another smaller patio, for service. The third courtyard works as a key element in the relationship between home and the north side – it’s a slim space with a large horizontal opening that frames the landscape – it has an atmosphere of a "inner space outdoors”, the light is soft, by reflection on the outer wall that receives direct sunlight. This vertical courtyard communicates with a staircase that leads to an open terrace, the last element of the sequence of spaces, patios and atmospheres that go from more introspective and private to more open and outside.
